Database Managers

mySQL access is a extra $10 per month upgrade at my current web host, which I can't afford currently. My best bet was a flat file/perl based database publishing solution. And two of the more significant freeware solutions are EZdb or dbMan!

I have initially created Raquel's portfolio thingie in EZdb. Very confusing process but worked. Program concept is very hard to grasp and their support forum is old and inactive. Not a very rewarding experience.

For my next project, I created a link manager database at Jeannette's www.jazzgrrls.com using dbMan, what a change! User support is fabulous, my questions were answered in detail within minutes of posting and there are plenty of mods to modify the default behaviour. Highly recommended.

No comparison, I have now re-converted Raquel's portfolio using a number of Jpdeni's mods and created our personal address book online and got rid of EZdb for good! Despite its high rating on cgi.resourceindex.com.

A good link for dbman mods is Jpdeni's site

Still the best option for a flat file database. I really like the way I can set up a database easily. There is aparently a mySQL version of dbman but I can't afford the price. My latest dbman project is Michel Lambert's Discography.
